FAA Division Chair, Dr. Bryan Ott is a film lecturer and an award-winning filmmaker from California, who has been living in Thailand for almost 20 years. Bryan won the GRAND PRIZE at the Rhode Island International Film Festival Screenplay Competition 2019 [for the second time] with his latest feature screenplay entitled They Sound Human. This horror/western story is currently being adapted to graphic novel with the hopes of publication in 2023. After completing a number of successful short films, he directed an independent feature film entitled, Reagan’s Wharf, which garnished numerous awards in the US. His 1st professional short film, The Glow, won Best Fantasy Short Film at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. His next work, 3 ages: a feature film, was Bryan’s 2nd collaborative project with Local Color Films and was sold commercially to True Visions, Co. ltd, Thailand’s largest cable provider.

Bryan has been a fulltime MUIC faculty lecturer for over 15 years. As Division Chair, he aims to increase FAA’s International collaborations and university connections abroad, as well as develop its domestic professional relationships. “In looking abroad, it is also important to build and strengthen our domestic links with the Thai media and design industry. Strengthening and integrating our faculty and program more securely with the professional industry works to add value and enrich the student experience.” Bryan, and the hardworking FAA team, look forward to a successful and exciting future for the division and MUIC.
