Three MUIC Teams Reach Finals in National Debate Tournament

Three teams from Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Debate Club were able to break through to the finals round in the Thailand British Parliament Debate Open, held on July 9-10, 2022 at Anglo Singapore International School. 

Team ‘MUIC Lib-Con’ (Mr. Ibrahim O Dawoodjee majoring in Biological Sciences, Ms. Tahia Emdad majoring in International Relations and Global Affairs) and ‘MUIC Jeopardy’ (Mr. Sumit Sachdev majoring in Computer Science, Mr. Tate Lee majoring in Computer Science) broke into the Novice Finals, while ‘The Brownies’ (Mr. Anshuman Verma majoring in Computer Engineering, Mr. Karan Pathela majoring Biological Sciences) went into the Open Finals. Other participants from MUIC included Mr. Patsha Ha majoring in Physics, Mr. Atiwat Rachatawarn majoring in Computer Science, and Mr. Taha Dardarananda majoring in Chemistry.

On top of that, Mr. Ibrahim O Dawoodjee was named the 3rd Best Novice Speaker and Ms. Tahia Emdad received the 4th Best Novice Speaker. Mr. Anshuman Verma received the 3rd Best Open Speaker while Mr. Karan Pathela was named 6th Best Open Speaker.  

The club noted that the intense environment of the tournament where 15 educational institutions sent teams provided its members with an opportunity to practice and sharpen their skills, while also making friends with fellow debaters from other institutions.
