The PepsiCo Design & Innovation invited students and lecturers from the Communication Design Program (CDP) of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) to work together on developing the package design mockup, branding, merchandise/ fashion items, and advertising campaign for Pepsi’s new Black and Blue slim limited edition can series under the program “1,000 Design Awards, Billion Dollar Brands.”
The winning team was the “Sip Swirl Sway” team with its four members: Ms. Pandaree Vorapruck, Ms. Thanatcha Dechkerd, Mr. Supasin Narkwijit, and Mr. Harimit Dawar, all in their third year. As part of the prize, the winning team will start their internship at PepsiCo Thailand in August.
The design brief was assigned to 10 groups/teams of students. There were two phases of the collaboration: 1.) Design briefing from PepsiCo staff and workshop for concept development and feedback at MUIC on May 24, 2024. Then students continued to work on their design concepts and directions through the ICCD326 Communication Design Practicum class and 2.) On June 14th, each group presented its proposed design before Pepsico’s design team at Pepsico’s Thailand head office in order for PepsiCo Design & Innovation to select the winner of this challenge.
All teams received positive feedback from the overall design concepts and executions which would lead to next year’s collaboration.
