The Innovative Design Cooking (IDC) Club of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) held a field trip composed of 14 students and 4 club staff members to Tanland Ichitan Learning Center on June 28, 2024.
The 2011 floods in Thailand submerged the Ichitan Green Factory underwater. This incident taught them lessons on how to coexist with nature in a balanced manner without harming one another.
As a result, Tanland was transformed into a learning center. Over 2,000 sq. m. of space allowed participants to study the over 5,000-year history of tea. Tea production technology in Thailand has evolved from being packed in ordinary plastic bags to the world’s most advanced and hygienic cold-packaging technology. Additionally, Ichitan presented the story of the Green Factory, a company that not only emphasizes environmental sustainability but also significantly reduces its reliance on natural resources.
This remarkable field visit aimed not only to broaden the students’ understanding of the food industry but also to instill in them the belief that a career can begin with just an idea. This provided the students with first-hand experience, allowing them to learn from the actual site of one of Thailand’s largest food companies. The club said it believes that the ideas they gained from this site would be useful in their future careers.
