Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Debate Club made its comeback in international debating by winning 4th Place in the Vin University Intervarsity Debate Competition held in Vin University, Hanoi, Vietnam on May 4-8, 2023.

The debate team, composed of Mr. Ibrahim O. Dawoodjee (ICBI), Mr. Tate Lee (ICCS) and Ms. Krittiya Sagaekhao (ICBI) faced equally tough opponents from the United Kingdom, Singapore, Vietnam, and many others.

It may not have had the chance to win the top prize but in the end the club said “it was very proud to have represented Thailand in this prestigious debate tournament and to have lifted the name of MUIC among universities from around the world. It was a valuable experience and a great opportunity for the students of MUIC to understand other cultures and to be able to get into academic bouts with them and find friendship at the end of the day.”

The Debate Club said it looks forward to future opportunities where it will once again set itself as a prominent member of not only the Thai debating society but also the international circuit of debaters.
