IRGA x MUN Guest Lecture #2: “Soft Power Dynamics Across East Asia”

On November 22, 2022, the MUIC International Relations and Global Affairs Program, in collaboration with the MUIC Model United Nations Club, hosted its second event as a part of its guest lecture series. The event consisted of two on-site lectures: “Soft Power Dynamics Across East Asia” by Dr. Daniele Carminati and “International Trade and Human Rights Law” by Dr. Matthew Gillett.

The event, including the discussion, was co-moderated by Mr. William J. Jones (Chair of IRGA Program) and Mr. Faris Waesahmae (MUICMUN Head of the Academic Team). There were 21 students 7 lecturers and 5 staff participants at Seminar Room 1210, MUIC Building 1.

The event was aimed at expanding the attendees’ academic curiosity and understanding of soft power, power relations, and international law, which are concepts that are essential in understanding international relations and global politics. Essentially, these concepts are highly applicable to the understanding of the United Nations as an intergovernmental organization, its organs, and its role in ensuring global peace and security.
