Mahidol University International College (MUIC) sent delegates to the press conference organized by the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University to promote its Bangkok Noi Model Project on January 9, 2020 at Siriraj Hospital.
Assoc. Prof. Chulathida Chomchai, MD, MUIC Dean, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanida Hansawasdi, Associate Dean for Research, led the group comprising faculty members who are participating in this major research initiative. The faculty members are divided into four groups proposing research projects highlighting the Bangkok Noi neighborhood’s potential as a tourist site. These proposals also include ways to bolster the local residents’ livelihood.
The faculty members involved in the proposed research projects come from several academic divisions, including Tourism and Hospitality Management, Humanities and Language, and Fine and Applied Arts.
The four interdisciplinary projects focus on the revitalization of the community around Siriraj Hospital and involve a variety of approaches to benefit the people and place, including workshops that engage the community, an exhibition of photographs generated by youth in the neighborhood, a walking tour and pop-up events for locals and tourists, a forum for residents to voice their ideas and concerns, as well as a documentary film and use of social media to bring awareness to others about Bangkok Noi district.
The staff members from the Research Promotion and Management Unit helped the faculty members in conducting their presentations during the press conference.
