The Rakkaew Club of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) organized a one-day trip called “A Journey in Bangkok Noi” on February 4, 2023.

The 15 student participants had the opportunity to learn much about the Bangkok Noi community. This included getting to know the local people in Khao Mao Alley and learning how to make “khao mao mee,” a traditional Thai dessert. During the tour, the students observed how local people live in the Ban Bu community. They also participated in making “khan long hin” or stone-polished bronze bowls, a type of Thai bronze ware that has a 200-year history. Ban Bu is regarded as the last place that produces this unique bronze ware. Furthermore, the participants were able to visit Wanglang Market, a popular market in Bangkok Noi.

This activity aimed to teach the participants about the Bangkok Noi community and make them aware of the need to keep the cultural artifacts and practices alive. The club said it hoped that the activity can help the local community by becoming known among both Thais and foreigners.
