Communication Design Student Wins 1st Place in Asian Student Summit

Ms. Chantakarn Sukchonmakul, a student of the Communication Design program of Mahidol University International College (MUIC), and her group won 1st Place (Best Group Presentation) in the STEP Asian Undergraduate Summit 2019 (Singapore leg) held on July 14-21, 2019.

Ms. Chantakarn was among 214 students from 12 universities in nine countries (Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand) who participated in the summit which had “Leadership in a Complex World: Harnessing Untapped Potential Creating Sustainable Synergies” as its main theme.

The participants went through the Design Thinking workshop and made site visits to observe real-life synergies in Singaporean communities. They were grouped into 15 teams tasked to come up with a solution to create “sustainable synergies.” Each group then pitched their ideas before the organizing committee, group facilitators, and fellow participants who would then choose the top 5. These finalists then presented their work before a panel of judges on the last day of the summit.

Ms. Chantakarn participated in the Seoul, South Korea leg of the summit in early July.

The STEP Asian Undergraduate Summit is a student-led international program by students of the National University of Singapore with the support of the Temasek Foundation International.
