MUIC Team Wins Big in Chulalongkorn MUN

Mahidol University International College’s Model United Nations Club (MUICMUN) sent seven delegates, three observers, and one co-chair staff to compete in the Chulalongkorn University Model United Nations 2023 (ChulaMUN2023) held at Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building, Chulalongkorn University on May 26-28, 2023.

The team gave a good account of themselves, bringing home seven awards in total: two Best Delegate Awards, three Best Observer Awards, and two Honorable Mentions.

Ms. Narapath Vittaya-Am-Nuaykoon, assuming the role of delegate of New Zealand, was assigned to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to discuss the topics of “Regulating Pollution from Multinational Corporations” and “Reducing Microplastics in the Ocean.” In addition, Ms. Nichakorn Piriyathananukul also observed and reported on the dynamics of the committee as “BBC.”

Mr. Danuch Karnjanayothin and Mr. Ibrahim O Dawoodjee were assigned to the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) to discuss the topics of “Homophobic Hate Crimes and Legal Discrimination” and “The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and Its Human Rights Violations in Middle Eastern Countries” as delegates of Japan and Australia, respectively. In addition, Ms. Anchaleekorn Wiriyamankij also observed and reported on the dynamics of the committee as “The Guardian.”

Ms. Solatthika RoyprommaMs. Koshakorn PakdeesatitvaraMr. Aditya Dutta, and Mr. Intaj Suwannaporn were assigned to the Economic and Financial Affairs Council Committee (ECOFIN) to discuss the topics of “Encouraging the Private Sector’s Adoption of Sustainable Production Methods” and “Long-term Debt Sustainability in Developing Countries” as delegates of Sweden, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Indonesia, respectively. In addition, Ms. Shalina Nandwani also observed and reported on the dynamics of the committee as “Reuters.”

Apart from that, Ms. Pinda Viriyapongsri, MUICMUN Club President, attended the conference and participated as the co-chair of UNEP.
