Mathematics plays a fundamental role both in the realm of sciences and of commerce and finance. The Applied Mathematics major combines the benefits of a well-rounded general education in science and humanities to produce high-caliber graduates capable of undertaking graduate studies, secondary school teaching and professions in IT, finance, banking, statistics, and actuarial science.
The program offers three tracks: applied mathematics, financial mathematics, and statistics. After the second year of study, students can choose to specialize in financial mathematics or statistics or remain in the applied mathematics track.
Graduates of Applied Mathematics major are in demand in areas like research and development in the private sector and in universities. They can work as actuaries in insurance policy design, consultants, statisticians and planners in government or private sector and even cryptologists in national security department.
