Sigma Club Promotes Book Reading

Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Sigma Club organized an online activity called “Book / Thing / Me” from February 1 to March 12, 2024.

In this activity, the 57 student participants sent their favorite book memories with pictures that relate to the book and a recommendation on who should read this book. Their works were then displayed at Aditayathorn Building for people to vote on March 12, 2024. The top three entries with the highest votes won the prize. The voters also got a chance to win a Starbucks Gift Card in a lucky draw.

Through this activity, the club aimed to promote reading in the college. The club said that as form of feedback, it received a wide range of book categories, from novels to philosophical and scientific books.

By orchestrating such an interactive initiative, the club said the activity went beyond mere participation. It said, “It is about fostering a culture of literary appreciation and exploration within the college setting. The breadth of feedback received thus far underscores the diverse interests and passions within our community, spanning from the realms of light-hearted fiction to the profound depth of philosophical and scientific inquiry.”
